CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS
Jeff Hughes has asked for volunteers to help work on the old chapel in the back of the church building.  Work will begin at 9:00 am on Saturday, Nov. 15.  Please lend a hand if you can!

ADVENT PROGRAM FOR KIDS
Help spread the word!  Our Annual St. James Children's Advent Program will take place on 3 Friday evenings,December 5th, 12th & 19th from 6 to 8 pm.   Ages 3 & up are welcome, including parents.   Learn the reason for the season!   We will be doing activities, arts & crafts and music, and a light supper & dessert will be served.   Come one, come all, it’s free!

We are asking for volunteers to help with meals & activities.  Please contact Paul Meglathery or Michelle O'Quend for more information.

ADVENT STUDY FOR ADULTS
Beginning Sunday, Nov. 30, 9:15 a.m., and through the following Advent Sundays, Paul Meglathery will be offering: "Subversive Stories of the Bible, Part I: Old Testament".  A major tenet of Jewish orthodoxy, before and during the time of Jesus, was: God rewards virtue and punishes evil.  Our own experience tells us that it's not the whole story, and some biblical writers back then agreed.  We will look specifically at three Old Testament books: Ruth, Jonah and Job, to see how they challenged orthodox belief in their day and what relevance they may have for us today.  Sessions will last 45 minutes.

CLOISTERS MUSEUM & GARDENS TRIP
Please join us for a day out on Saturday, Dec. 13 for a trip to the Cloisters Museum and Gardens in Ft. Tryon Park, Manhattan. The Waverly Consort will be performing The Christmas Story, at both 1:00 and 3:00.  Please see the flyer in the Narthex for more information.

ART FEST
Come out to St. James on Sunday, Dec 7, from 1 to 5 pm for the Artisan Sale.  Ten different local artists will be on hand, selling their creations, including our own Barbara Rivolta.  Please help support the talented artist community!

FUNDRAISING
The St. James Fair will be next September, but to make it the success we need it to be, we need to start ideas, collections and committees now. Give thought to how you might help. We will be reaching out soon with specifics, in the mean time, please let us hear from you at:fundstjames@gmail.com. We have the next 150 years to plan for!

ST. BRIGID’S FOOD PANTRY
Donations of the following items are always being accepted:  cereals(hot, cold, pancake mix, etc.), canned fruits and vegetables, jelly, toiletries, toilet tissue, paper towels, diapers, and baby formula. Please remember to bring in personal hygiene items for St. Brigid’s clients as well (shampoo, soap, etc.). St. Brigid’s is sorely in need of volunteers to help with various tasks, including the unloading of items from the Food Bank on the 2nd Friday of each month.  Please see Jim Hicks or Dave Harrison for more information.
